About Us
Hui Lim, a graduate of the Eastman School of Music ( B.M. 2006) and Indiana University Jacobs School of Music (M.M. 2008), is the tenured Associate Principal Second Violin with the Boise Philharmonic and a tenured violinist with the Las Vegas Philharmonic. Previously, she held tenures with the Reno Philharmonic and the Reno Chamber Orchestra. She has served as acting Assistant Concertmaster for the Reno Chamber Orchestra and Acting Principal 2nd for the Las Vegas Philharmonic.
During the summer, she performs with the Lancaster Festival Orchestra and their festival string quartet.
An experienced educator, Hui has served as violin faculty member at the prestigious Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts School of Young Talents in Singapore. During her years fresh out of graduate school, she coached the violin sectionals of the Singapore National Youth Orchestra and National University of Singapore Symphony Orchestra. Since moving back to the USA in 2012, Hui has taught college music minors while serving as teaching assistant to Stephanie Sant'Ambrogio, former Concertmaster of the San Antonio Symphony and Assistant Principal 2nd of the Cleveland Orchestra, and Eliot Chapo, former Concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic.
During her schooling days, Hui was the 2nd prize winner of the National Piano & Violin Competition in Singapore and was selected to perform with the Asian Youth Orchestra on a 6 week concert tour.
Hui served as adjudicator for the District String Solo and Ensemble Festival Competition, All-State Solo Competition in Boise and the Las Vegas Philharmonic Concerto Competition.
Her teachers included Stephanie Sant'Ambrogio, Ik Hwan Bae, Koichiro Harada, Eliot Chapo, and Oleh Krysa.
Tiantian Lan, a highly sought-after violist in the region, is the tenured Principal Violist of Berkeley Symphony, Oakland Symphony, the Assistant Principal Viola of Boise Philharmonic, Reno Philharmonic and the Reno Chamber Orchestra. In 2020 February, he won the Assistant Principal Viola position with the Las Vegas Philharmonic. He has also served as guest Principal Viola of the Florida Orchestra and started performing with the Atlanta Symphony this past season.
Last fall, Tiantian won the position of Assistant Principal Viola at the Florida Orchestra after their national auditions.
Together with Hui, he performs with the Lancaster Festival Orchestra during the summers, where they also present chamber music concerts.
Tiantian has also performed with the Boston Symphony and served as Viola Principal at Tanglewood Music Festival.
He has been invited to serve as the adjudicator at the District String Solo and Ensemble Festival Competition in Boise and also the Las Vegas Philharmonic Concerto Competition.
Tiantian has served as faculty in music schools of the Bay Area and also at the Gold Coast Chamber Music Festival.
He is a graduate of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music (M.M. 2009) and Central Conservatory of Music ( B.M. 2005), where his teachers included Jodi Levitz and Wing Ho.
